The Mexican Museum of San Francisco received the great honor of being accepted as an Affiliate of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. To present the Award Certificate which seals the venture, was the Honorable Harold A. Closter, Director of Smithsonian Affiliations, who very proudly claims that "the Smithsonian comes to us by engaging worthy organizations that portray communities and cultures that makes us part of the greater United States of America".
The Award was presented during a Press Conference at the Museum and was given to Honorable Jonathan Lorenzo Yorba, Chief Executive Officer who was very excited about the accomplishments of the Museum he directs. After commenting about the beginnings of the Museum, he announced that The Museum has planned the construction of its own building on 3rd and Mission Street, in San Francisco and is due to open in 2016.
In the mean time, the public is welcomed to visit the Museum at its present location: Fort Mason Center, Building D. in SF.
