All nine candidates for Board of Trustees will participate in a discussion about the future of City College of San Francisco, an educational institution that serves 100,000 students annually. With record-breaking numbers of young people turning out to vote this year, organizers of the event expect the open-air amphitheater to be filled on Wednesday, October 1, 2008. Trustee Candidates will present their vision for the college beginning at 11 am. Students, administrators and faculty will then have the opportunity to ask questions directly to candidates during a Town Hall from 12 pm- 1 pm.
"Students organized this event so that we can decide who to vote for ourselves. We have the opportunity to determine the future of City College and to hold the Board of Trustees accountable to the needs of the CCSF community," said Josh Nielsen, President of the Associated Students Council at the Ocean Campus.
Nicole Ammon, a student and Multicultural Resource Center coordinator, agreed, "This forum is very exciting because students will learn firsthand that they can make a difference in their school."
The Board of Trustees Candidate Forum is organized by the Associated Students Council, the Multicultural Resource Center, Young Workers United, and the San Francisco Youth Commission.
